Sunshine Foundation is proud to have hosted 27 Annual Progeria Reunions — providing an exciting week of fun and friendship for children worldwide diagnosed with this unique aging disease (HGPS).  Sunshine is pleased to know that since initiating Progeria awareness many years ago as an answer to Fransie’s dream, numerous other charitable foundations have been established that may offer hope, support, and at times, medical directives and care for this devastating disease. 

We are sure that you are aware of the difficulties that our troubled economy has presented to both businesses and to non-profit organizations.  Unfortunately, Sunshine Foundation has also felt the effects of our troubled economy, with donations dropping and the expenses of continuing our mission increasing.  This has resulted in the realization that our primary mission of answering individual dreams must come first and that Sunshine’s Progeria Reunion must be cancelled indefinitely. Should we at any time have the ability to financially host another Reunion, we will update our web site with the necessary information and contact the families on file. Many of the sponsors who donated towards the Progeria Reunions are now unable to do so, leaving us with no decision other than to cancel plans for a Progeria Reunion in the upcoming 2010 calendar year and to concentrate on answering the dreams of the more then 120 children on our waiting list.

We appreciate the understanding and support of those Progeria children and families who have benefited through the generosity of Sunshine Foundation’s many loyal donors over the years. We certainly wish all of the children suffering with Hutchinson Guilford Syndrome and their families the very best in their future and hope that possibly one day Sunshine Foundation could be in the financial position to host a future Progeria Reunion.
