Josh Pays it Forward: A Dream that Came Full Circle

At just three years old, Josh’s life changed forever.

He was a passenger in a car that was struck in a devastating hit-and-run accident involving two separate semi‑trucks. The crash left Josh with a massive traumatic brain injury. He fell into a coma and spent the next 12 weeks in rehabilitation, beginning a long and challenging recovery journey that would continue throughout his childhood.

Despite intensive therapy and unwavering family support, Josh faced ongoing challenges as a result of his injury. When he was nine years old, his family learned about the Sunshine Foundation. Through the generosity of Sunshine Foundation donors, Josh’s dream of a Disney World vacation came true—offering his family joy, hope, and unforgettable memories during a very difficult time.

What came next, however, exceeded everyone’s expectations.

Josh went on to recover far beyond what doctors once thought possible. In his early 20s, he transformed his life experiences into something truly special—writing and publishing two children’s books inspired by his journey.  Josh’s World was published in January 2022, followed by Josh’s Friends in November of the same year.

Creating New Dreams for Other Children

Josh never forgot the impact the Sunshine Foundation had on his life and his family. Years after his own dream came true, he found a powerful way to give back.

Josh generously donated the proceeds from both Josh’s World and Josh’s Friends to the Sunshine Foundation, ensuring other children could experience the same joy and hope he once received. Through his donations, two children’s dreams have already become reality.

Josh first helped Vincent, a child living with Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy, experience a Magical Dream family vacation to the Central Florida theme parks. He then sponsored Kylie, who has Takayasu’s Arteritis, helping her enjoy a shopping spree for items needed for her care and personal enjoyment.

Josh’s story of gratitude and generosity continues. In May 2026, thanks to his ongoing commitment and partnership with the Sunshine Foundation, Josh will once again sponsor another child’s dream—proving that the power of kindness truly comes full circle.
