Juliana’s Diagnosis

Juliana is diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), which is defined as a genetic disorder that starts in the central nervous system (CNS) and affects all the muscles in the body. Due to the degenerative nature of the disease, people with SMA will experience a decline in muscle strength over time, although the rate and severity can vary among individuals.

Our Mission

Sunshine Foundation answers the dreams of children, ages three through eighteen, who have severe or profound physical/developmental/intellectual challenges or trauma from physical/sexual abuse, and whose families have limited income. Since 1976, Sunshine Foundation has spread Sunshine into the lives of more than 43,280 children.
