Saman’s Dream Road Trip
This summer, Saman, who was born with Chanarin Dorfman syndrome, embarked on a road trip out west that turned into the adventure of a lifetime. Thanks to the incredible support of those who made it possible, he explored breathtaking landscapes, tried new foods, and embraced every moment with joy and wonder.
Family Thank You
“I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you—truly, from the bottom of our hearts. Your generosity gave Saman the chance to take an unforgettable trip to Utah, and it meant more to him than you can imagine. He enjoyed every single second of it. From riding roller coasters with mountains in the background to climbing ropes, taking gondola rides, and checking out the zoo, he was in awe the whole time. You helped him step into experiences that were brand new and so exciting. He also got to try out a bunch of different restaurants and foods, and loved every bite. And the place he stayed in? It was like a dream—comfy beds, a perfect space to relax and watch movies, and yes, his favorite part: the bathtubs! He couldn’t stop talking about how amazing they were. One of his biggest dreams was to do a road trip—and you made that happen, too. He got to see gorgeous places like Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and more. Rivers, mountains, national parks, beautiful views—he was blown away by it all. Thanks to you, this wasn’t just a vacation. It was something bigger. It brought joy, adventure, and lasting memories. You gave him something he’ll carry with him for the rest of his life. Thank you again—your kindness made magic happen.” – With heartfelt gratitude, Saman’s family.
Saman’s Diagnosis
Saman is diagnosed with Chanarin Dorfman syndrome (CDS), an extremely rare genetic disorder caused by a genetic mutation that affects how the body processes fats. People with CDS are typically born with dry, scaly skin. As they grow up, they may develop liver problems due to fat buildup. Other symptoms may include enlarged liver, cataracts, difficulty with coordinating movements, hearing loss, muscle weakness, or mild intellectual disability.
