Ace's New Pool

Ace’s Above-Ground Swimming Pool

Ace, 16, who lives with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and neuro disability, recently had his dream of an Above-Ground Swimming Pool come true. The pool is much more than a place to cool off and have fun. It provides Ace with a safe space where he can enjoy greater freedom of movement, participate in therapy activities, and experience the simple joys of childhood while creating special memories with his family.

“Ace truly loves his pool! The pool gives Ace opportunities like any normal child. He plays in it every day. The pool gives Ace opportunities to do his physical and occupational therapy. Ace is extremely stiff and unable to move, but when Ace is in the pool, he is able to freely move around without great effort. The greatest thing is that Ace is nonverbal, and the other day in the pool we were telling him to kick his feet, and he said, ‘I AM’! The greatest two words. Ace’s Diagnoses

Ace is diagnosed with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, a rare and severe form of epilepsy. This condition causes multiple types of seizures, which can lead to permanent brain damage. Ace is also diagnosed with a neuro disability, a broad term for conditions associated with nervous system impairment, which can affect movement, cognition, communication, and behavior.
