Campbell’s First Rollercoaster!

Campbell, who is diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, experienced a dream come true on a magical getaway to Disney World. This unforgettable trip gave Campbell and his family the chance to step away from the routines and responsibilities of everyday life, including medical appointments and the constant demands of managing his condition, and simply focus on making memories together.

Living with Type 1 Diabetes means Campbell must carefully monitor and manage his blood sugar levels every day. Yet during his dream trip, he was able to embrace new experiences and enjoy special moments with his family.

One highlight of the vacation was experiencing Disney’s exciting rides, especially a roller coaster that Campbell had been nervous to try. Despite his fears, he found the courage to climb aboard and conquered the ride, turning a moment of uncertainty into a proud personal victory.

From thrilling attractions to precious family time, every moment of the trip was filled with joy. Campbell’s bright smile said it all. The magical getaway created memories that will last a lifetime and gave his family a chance to simply enjoy being together while celebrating the power of a dream come true.

Thank You from Campbell’s Family

“He experienced so many firsts, including riding his very first roller coaster! He was nervous and a little scared at first, but the biggest smile came across his face when the ride was over—and he immediately wanted to ride it again. Watching his confidence grow and seeing him overcome his fears was truly priceless. Campbell loved every moment of his trip, from swimming in the pool to meeting his favorite characters. He had a smile on his face from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. These memories brought so much joy and happiness to our family. We are forever grateful to the Sunshine Foundation and our incredible sponsor for making this dream trip possible. The kindness, generosity, and magic you provided our family will never be forgotten. This was truly an amazing experience, and we are beyond thankful for the opportunity to watch Campbell shine.” -Campbell’s mom

Campbell’s Diagnoses

Campbell is diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, once known as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes, is a chronic condition. In this condition, the pancreas makes little or no insulin. Insulin is a hormone the body uses to allow sugar (glucose) to enter cells to produce energy.  Different factors, such as genetics and some viruses, may cause type 1 diabetes. Although type 1 diabetes usually appears during childhood or adolescence, it can develop in adults.  Even after a lot of research, type 1 diabetes has no cure. Treatment is directed toward managing the amount of sugar in the blood using insulin, diet and lifestyle to prevent complications.
