Leslie’s Disney Dream Comes True

Leslie, with Down syndrome and developmental delays, enjoyed a family trip to the Florida theme parks where she was able to meet the Disney characters and princesses. She also enjoyed some time at the beach and a chance to experiment with “astronaut life.”

Thank you from Leslie’s Family

“Thank you very much, Sunshine Foundation. Leslie and my family are very grateful for you making Leslie’s dream come true. A great moment was seeing Leslie walk and be eager to walk the parks, because she doesn’t like walking long distances. Leslie was so happy to see characters and ride on rides. Overall, an amazing dream trip.” – Leslie’s mom

Leslie’s Diagnosis

Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome) is the most common chromosomal anomaly in humans, affecting about 5,000 babies born each year and more than 350,000 people in the United States. Babies with Down syndrome end up with three chromosomes at position 21, instead of the usual pair.
