Michael Meets Goofy at Disney World

Michael, diagnosed with mitochondrial disorder and severe level 3 autism, enjoyed his Central Florida theme park trip, where he met some of his favorite characters. Michael enjoyed visiting the theme parks while staying in the LEGO cottage at the Sunshine Foundation Dream Village.

Thank you from Michael’s Family

“Thank you for giving Mikey this dream trip; he had a really good time. We went to Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Universal Studios as a family. We really enjoyed ourselves. The Sunshine Foundation made us smile throughout the whole trip. Thank you so much for a wonderful week.” – Michael’s mother, Kathryn

Michael’s Diagnosis

Michael has been diagnosed with Mitochondrial disorder and level 3 severe autism. Mitochondrial disorder affects structures within each cell in making energy. Autism Spectrum Disorder is defined by the CDC as “a developmental disability caused by differences in the brain.” Autism affects each person differently, and their ability to function can vary significantly. Level 3 severe autism is a term used to define children and adults with the most severe form of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
