Douglas’ Disney Smiles and Excitement!

Douglas, diagnosed with Dravet syndrome, enjoyed a trip to Walt Disney World with his family!  The trip was filled with lots of smiling and excitement to see and interact with the many Disney characters and experience the rides in Walt Disney World!

Thank You from Douglas’ Family

“Our dream trip was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Doug’s smiling in almost all his photos. He was having such a great time that he was just as much of a character as the Disney employees—smiling, cheesing, hugging anyone he could. The photo of Doug smiling with his Buzz Lightyear toy that we bought in Magic Kingdom earlier that night is the perfect example of a trip that went right!  We are profoundly grateful to the Sunshine Foundation and the generous sponsors whose support made that trip possible.– Douglas’ mom

Douglas’ Diagnoses

Douglas is diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome, which is a rare and serious type of epilepsy. The first seizure often happens with a high fever and can last more than five minutes. It can lead to developmental delays, trouble with speech and language, and problems with balance or walking.  Long seizures can be dangerous, so care plans often include steps to stay safe and prepare for emergencies.
