Shawn’s Family Trip to the Florida Theme Parks
Shawn, diagnosed with low-functioning autism, enjoyed a dream trip to the Florida theme parks. He had a fabulous time with his family and was especially happy to see the Mystery Machine from Scooby-Doo!
Thank you from Shawn’s Family
“This trip has been a life changing experience for Shawn and for the family. Shawn enjoyed the Lego cottage; he loved building on the Lego wall. Shawn loved seeing the characters at the park, his favorite was the Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo, first happy smile I’ve seen in years. Thank you, Sunshine Foundation… this has been an amazing experience.” – Shawn’s Mother Lori Lee
Shawn has been diagnosed with low-functioning autism. Autism Spectrum Disorder is defined by the CDC as “a developmental disability caused by differences in the brain.” Autism affects each person differently, and their ability to function can vary significantly. Low-functioning autism is a term used to define children and adults with the most severe form of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
We are very grateful to Adopt a Dream donors and supporters of the 2022 Tricky Tray, who made Shawn’s dream come true!
